Buck O’Neil Mural- Elevating Local Art From Above
We’re thrilled to share our latest aerial video featuring the brand-new Buck O’Neil Bridge mural, painted by the incredibly talented Phil “Sike Style” Shafer (@sikestyle). This stunning 4,000‑square‑foot tribute animates the south end of the bridge at Broadway & 3rd—and it’s now a new landmark to explore.
Massive thanks to @sikestyle and his sponsors for bringing Buck O’Neil’s legacy back to life in such a vibrant way.
Capturing this mural wasn’t exactly a walk in the park. It sits right in the approach path to KMKC (Kansas City Downtown Airport)—so before we could fly, we had to wrangle an FAA clearance. If it seems like we might be late to the party… let’s just say we were waiting on the government (Don’t tell anybody I said this… but the FAA actually did a very thorough and professional job on the approval and KC Downtown Tower is always a pleasure to work with)! Still, worth every minute of waiting.
Projects like this allow us to spotlight local art, support community storytelling, and celebrate the artists putting our city on the map.
Keep an eye out as we continue to fly over more Kansas City treasures.
