I HAD NO IDEA…

Various drones neatly organized on shelves

I HAD NO IDEA…
I had no idea how many people were out there with really nice drones just… sitting in the closet.
Older models. Un-flown Christmas gifts. Drones grounded by firmware bugs, controller mismatches, or setup confusion. For most owners, they’re just taking up space. But for me? It’s a problem I love to solve.

Just this week, a customer brought in a DJI Mavic 2 Pro that wouldn’t fly—throwing compass errors (code 180) every time it tried to take off outdoors. Indoors it worked, but once GPS kicked in. No dice.
I refreshed firmware on both the drone and controller, recalibrated the IMU and compass… still stuck.
Eventually, I traced the issue to an outdated version of the DJI Go 4 app. But the controller’s browser was so old it couldn’t even load the software download site! So, I grabbed the updated app’s APK file on my desktop, sideloaded it to the controller’s download folder through a USB cable, and BAM—we have lift-off.

The Customer’s Feedback:
“DJI error code 180 fixed. Drone Services of KC got my Mavic 2 Pro flying again. After a firmware update, my Mavic failed to respond to its Smart Controller and the props would not start. I spent hours in unsuccessful research, looking for the information I needed to fix my drone. Luckily I found DSKC who expertly navigated through the maze of firmware modules that needed to communicate with each other. Their expert experience fixed every issue that blocked my path to eliminate the issue on my own. Drones are a marvelous tool of innovation and programming. Sometimes it takes an expert who can navigate this complexity to make it work. I highly recommend Drone Services of Kansas City for professional, friendly, and quick service.”

Here’s what I’ve learned:
There’s a surprising number of drone owners out there with great hardware collecting dust—just needing someone with the time and know-how to troubleshoot and breathe life back into it.

If that’s you—or someone you know—reach out. I’d be happy to take a look.
